  1. How has this course changed your outlook on learning? What’s changed? Why?

This course has really helped me understand what it’s really like to actually learn a new skill. I’ve tried to learn many different things like learning an instrument and trying to learn a new language but learning Html, CSS and Javascript has easily been the most difficult thing I’ve ever done so far. I’ve learned that taking even a small 5 minute break is essential for me to be able to focus and not get frustrated with whatever it is I’m doing.

2. When frustration comes up how do you be with it? What’s your course of action?

When something is making me frustrated I just take a break. 5 minutes is usually all I need to gather myself and regain the focus I’d lost stressing over the issue. If I come back from a break and I still can’t get past the issue I move on to something else so I’m always progressing in some sort of way.

3. Why should we teach to the whole person rather than to just a skill set? What benefits are there to this method?

If I understood the question I would give a better answer.

4. How do you feel about your upcoming project? What do you anticipate while working with a classmate?

While I do like the idea of working with a partner on this project, since we’re not required to have one I decided it would be best to not partner up. If I was better at everything we’re learning I’d definitely partner up and maybe be able to help someone else who might be struggling, but I feel like I’m barely getting by with the work I turn in and I wouldn’t want to ruin someone else’s grade.

5. What benefits will there be to working with someone else?

If I was working with someone else on a project I’d say the biggest benefit would be the pressure to do my best and not ruin someone else’s grade. Aside from that I think I’d be able to learn a lot from seeing someone else’s work and to see how other people go through the same problems as I do.

6. What challenges could come with this partnership?

One thing that instantly comes to mind for me is communication. Since a lot of us are still learning how to use Github properly I imagine that there could be some issues with us pushing work up and causing some sort of conflict. Also depending on if the work itself is divided up in the assignment or if the students have to decide who’s going to do what parts of the work.
